Hello All, Despite the drop off in Asian signals reported by Walt, the low-band TP's seemed to do very well here-- but as usual there was no trace of Walt's DU's. HLSA-603 had a strong signal with Korean pop music at 1333 for a nice MP3, and even had a weak co-channel TP underneath (sounded like Chinese, but too wispy to be sure of the language). 657-Pyongyang had a booming signal at 1328. Other than that, a fairly good Asian morning here, with the following heard on the hot-rodded C.Crane SWP Slider ultralight: 585 JOPG fair NHK1 audio at 1321 594 JOAK flamethrower signal as usual, throughout sunrise enhancement 603 HLSA strong with KK pop music at 1333, weak co-channel TP in background 639 CNR1 good signal with Chinese news at 1335 648 Presumed VOR with threshold audio at 1336 657 Pyongyang another flamethrower at 1323, but with ragged carrier as usual 666 JOBK strong NHK1 program at 1328 675 VOV good audio at 1330, but again troubled with 680 splatter 738 BEL2 another strong signal with ragged carrier, talk program at 1331 756 Presumed KBS with moderate audio at 1339 783 Moderate carrier at 1342 that never came to audio 936 China Anhui strong at 1343 with female-voiced news, rivaling 639-CNR1 for best Chinese signal As usual during the brief sunrise enhancement here in DX-challenged Puyallup, there wasn't enough time to check all the other frequencies-- but it was fun while it lasted. 73, Gary Modified ICF-2010 spotting receiver (30" loopstick) Modified C.Crane SWP Slider (7.5" sliding coil loopstick + Murata CFJ455K5 filter) 36" collapsible (PVC frame) tuned passive loop (bedside) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
