Hello All, Thanks to Bruce, Nick, John, Guy and Walt for their inputs on the 1170 kHz TP's received recently, in the null of KPUG-1170. This morning's 1170 kHz mix around 1425 featured a much reduced KPUG, a loud African music station with a foreign language sounding like African (possibly VOA in the Philippines- also heard yesterday but without the African-sounding foreign language), and a weaker Korean-voiced station (presumably the KBS station). There was no sign of the Chinese-language station heard yesterday. It seems odd that VOA would be broadcasting African music from the Phillipines, but nothing else seems to fit the pattern. The African music (and a brief section of African-sounding language) was recorded at 1416 when the signal was booming in at a "9", completely blanking out KPUG and the presumed KBS station. Can anyone confirm that VOA-Phillipines-1170 has an African music program around 1420 UTC? If so, there would probably be three separate TP's that are being received in the null of KPUG--- VOA-Philippines, the KBS station, and the CNR1 Chinese station heard yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
