First the good news - I managed to log another TP on the car radio while driving to work. This time it was KBS World Radio on 1170 w/pips & theme song at 1400, weaker than KEX IBOC and stronger than KPUG. That makes 4 TPs on the car rx this season (JOAB-693 JOIB-747 and VOA-1575 are the others), and 6 overall (China -1377 & Korea-972 were hrd last year ). There were many hets, but none produced audio today. I rechecked 1170 a couple of times and may have had some CC tak but KPUG was stronger by then. Later, I was treated to Indian music on KLOK, as noted in a previous thread. It suddenly popped up at 1415 after apparent pattern change. It threw me for a second, but I decided it was something close to home, and sure enough I checked the KLOK website when I got to work and learned the brutal truth.

I was also treated to 2 more TP Navtex logs during the night - Otaru, Japan, and Shanghai, both with slight bit garbled but decipherable messages.

I was less lucky recording from the SDR-IQ. A computer glitch (not operator error) prevented it from recording any files during the night. To make matters worse, the preamp in my K9AY seems to have died, which didn't prevent TA & TP logs the past few days, but signals are noticeably weaker, especially below 700. Anyway, I settled for recording the 800s and 900s today starting at 1340, netting a few interesting tidbits:

810 no TPs
819 N Korea at times in KGNW splatter
828 A mix of China and JOBB again. This time I heard a weak ID from Beijing at 1400, which dominated much of the time
837 carrier
846 ditto
855 bits of N Korea
864 what sounded like KBS pips at 1400
873 carrier in KIXI splat - probably Japan but nothing was readable
882 2 kHz from my strongest local - no way
891 loud overmodulated woman in SE Asia language after 1400, Thailand?
900 no TPs
909 carrrier & bits of audio
918 Chinese, presumably Shandong
927 bits of stuff
936 EE/CC news from presumed Anhui
945 CNR1 //981, strong signal but getting hammered by KJR
954 nada
963 CRI fair-good
972 KBS fair-good
981 CNR1 strong at times, inaudible at others
990 what sounded like NHK pips at 1400

It appeared to be a nice morning, so hopefully the computer will cooperate tomorrow
