Hey All, I liked the art. by Jim about promoting our hobby. However, I think
that instead of just talking about the tech parts of it,(classes, ect.) we need
to talk about just what one can hear at night.(give examples of what YOU have
heard)
He sead that he had 35 states.(I have 36) That is a very good job, but just
what have ya heard from those states?(I know, as I`ve done it, but we`re
talking about the american public here)
For a future art. tell them about:
distance: from your station to whatever your hearing(5 miles, 500, or 5000?)
Content: what and who are you hearing and what are they talking about?(talking
heads or some new kind of music or just a weather report from someplace that
you may have only heard of on the news if that?)
Time of day: most people alive today have NO CLUE that you can hear koa(for
example) in denver only during the day. But at night, it can be heard halfway
accross the country!
what kind of equitment: can I use just a car radio? Or do I need somthing
better? Also, what kind of ant. do I need? Just a small whip or do I need one
of these beverages of long ago?(a lot of places now have h.o.a.s, ect. that
make that kind of ant. not optional)
Overall a good art. and a nice primier to what we as dxers do late at night.
But in order to really promote ourselves/hobbys, we need to be a little more of
a salesman me thinks.(whats it this for me, how can it make me better, ect.)
Good dx to all, Robbie in now very cold Wyoming(-26*f the other night) I`ll
see if I can come up with something that can be sent out sometime.
