Just a faint carrier on 1566.000 tonight in Victoria , at 0505UT, with not very
much Doppler smearing.

Interestingly, I was up on Cortes Island again this past weekend, and a 50'
circumference ALA100 was able to hear the carrier there, so I tried a 1000'
Beverage, not so much on the ground, as on low foliage in a clear-cut area. A
real disappointment after that effort....about the same strength carrier for
about five minutes around 0515UT. What the antenna heard really well was all
the North American thunderstorms, and the domestics were pretty powerful as
well, in spite of generally being 90 degrees to the antenna.

best wishes,

Nick
