Hello All,

Although a preliminary band scan with the modified ICF-2010 prior to
breakfast at 1300 UTC showed fairly promising Asiatic signals on 738, 828
and 1134 kHz, those signals were long gone by 1340, when the 9' PVC loop was
set up in the back yard. Considering the earlier (generally favorable)
TP-DXing reports from Richard in Oklahoma and Bill in Arizona, the evidence
seems to indicate that a major propagation meltdown occurred just prior to
1330. Lacking the DU propagation that Nigel enjoys, the Asiatic TP-chasing
session here this morning ended up being one of the worst in the entire
season.

594-JOAK produced a few seconds of fair audio in the 590 splatter
prior to 1400, and its NHK1 partner 666-JOBK managed to do the same. Late in
the session 639-CNR1 and 738-BEL2 barely managed to come up with faint
Chinese speech, but all the other Chinese seemed to be in hibernation. 1134
kHz
had a TP station above the oppressive 1130 splatter for a few minutes
around 1415, but trying to figure out the identity (JOQR or KBS) was hopeless.
The 1053-Korean Jammer never even managed a decent heterodyne, nor did
perennial survivor 1566-HLAZ. Congratulations to Richard in Oklahoma, whose
7.5"
loopstick PL:-310 Ultralight obtained better TP-DXing results this morning
than the weird collection of fanatical equipment here :-)

The following were heard (just barely) on a C.Crane SWP Slider model
(7.5" loopstick) inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop
(in the back yard):

594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Poor Japanese speech in heavy 590
splatter around 1354; in and out of audio all morning

639 CNR1 China Synchros Brief seconds of poor Chinese
speech in harsh 1 kHz heterodyne at 1420

666 JOBK Osaka, Japan Like its 594 kHz NHK1 parallel,
a few seconds of poor Japanese speech around 1400
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Poor Chinese speech rising
above the noise level temporarily around 1416
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Threshold audio around 1347
1134 UnID-TP Poor-fair foreign speech in severe 1130
splatter after 1410, but language couldn't be determined

73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
