OK, finally had some time for breakfast....HLCA still had audio traces at 1555UT, and, when are the NHK2 transmitters signing off these days? They were leaving the air at 1440UT in late September, but they were still there at 1520UT this morning.
Anyway, started listening about 1345, and already it seemed that the ionospheric fog of the last few weeks had lifted; except for a break around 1415, I listened until well after 1515UT, and things just kept popping up. Mostly Japanese, but some Chinese and Koreans as well. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 594 JOAK 747 JOIB 774 JOUB 828 JOBB, often w/ something else CC? underneath 972 HLCA at 1456UT reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 279 R. Rossii 558 JOCR w/JJ talk at 1403UT 567 JOIK //594 at 1430, and at better strength just then 873 JOGB //747 at 1437 936 Anhui, CC pips at 1500UT 954 JOKR w/JJ talk at 1434 not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker 189 R. Rossii 576 Mayak; RR talk at 1450UT 603 two stations, presumed one was HLSA, but no parallel on 558 today 621 assumed China in 620 splatter at 1505UT, as not parallel with N. Koreans on SW, and seemed on channel; somebody else there too? 837 CC talk 1134 seemed to be KK talk in the CKWX splash; so, HLKC Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 153 R. Rossii 531 seemed //594, so JOQG 639 seemed //6150, so CNR-1 657 grumbly off channel talk assumed N. Korea; not heard for awhile here 666 seemed //594 at 1438UT, so JOBK; good carrier, audio rarely 693 JOAB //774, struggling through the CBU splash at 1459UT 738 ? 846 could have been //594, so NHK1 synchros 1044 CRI //7410 w/CC lessons at 1453UT 1188 not //594, so maybe HLKX? 1269 at 1458UT, presumably Japan; little sign of 1287 this morning though 1575 at 1503UT, VoA? Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 792, 864; others, but they mostly developed audio as the morning wore on... best wishes, Nick ***************************** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
