Thanks for the reply to Bill and the Group, Allen. The 1070 Indy station, WFNI (ex-WIBC), does not throw much, if any, signal Allen's way when on the 10 Kw night setup. When I lived about 15 miles NE of my present QTH, I could almost make them disappear. They send a BIG signal to the South and East, however. My father who lives in North Carolina, used to listen to WIBC each night to hear happenings in his old stomping grounds.
Allen - you may be able to land Indy if you can catch them right before local Indy sunset and their switch from the 50 Kw ND - day rig. The only time that I have heard KNX is one morning when WIBC was off due to a power outage, about 1983 or so. I bet, however, if I go 30 miles West of Indy, KNX would be there instead of WFNI. I wonder if Allen is in perfect two hop range for KNX and that is why the (seemingly) easier reception? 73, Dave in Indy ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Tue, 23 Nov 2010 19:22:01 -0800 (PST) From: Allen Willie <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: [IRCA] Reply to Bill in BC and the Group Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 RE: For Allen Willie; Hi, it's amazing that you scooped a signal all the way from Los Angeles on 1070.Was it a steady or slow fade in and out or did you notice anybody else mixing in? I'm wondering if CBA in Moncton NB is still active or did they shut that one down and was replaced by an FM? And nothing from Indy? You're probably closer to France than California. If you used an ultra light receiver for this scan, how much more could you get with a good sensitive portable? I wish I was there now since west coast Dxing has kind of run its course for me. Bill in BC Hi Bill and the Group I've heard KNX in here quite a number of times over the past while, usually when it's in it has?a suprisingly?decent signal even on the ultralight machine, and stays in a good bit before fading away. I've never logged the Indy station yet, the CBA in Moncton is gone and usually the only other station heard here most nights is CHOK in Sarnia Ontario and it seems to struggle as it's signal is weak and at times sounds muffled. In the past the Euskadi Irratia station from Spain on 1071 used to take over and cover up anything on 1070. It recently moved to 1386 Regards Allen in St. John's _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
