Indeed, the DeBock-modified Tecsun has been helpful and useful. As for
travel radios, there's no question it'd be my top pick for AM situations. As
for FM, I'll likely stick with the portable Sangean ATS909 mainly because it
has RDS readout. I'm looking at a possible vacation to souther Europe this
summer, likely June or July. In which case I'd take the Sangean and
concentret on FM, because thisd is the height of skip season, and because
RDS is so popular in Europe - and since I won't speak most of of the
languages I'll be hearing it makes sense. If I was trsavelling there outside
of FM e-skip season, the Tecsun would be a no-brainer. Likewise if I was
going to a major coastal or island location where transoceanic AM reception
was likely.

Thanks Colin, Walt and Patrick,
I like my modified PL-380, also :-) Actually most of these units were
sent to Canada (Walt, Saul and Rob), where hopefully they will provide
some
holiday cheer this winter season.
