>>A posting on the Portland PDX forum from the owner of KORC "We sold
the transmitter, tower, license & CP for 5 kW. The greatly improved
transmitter site including a generator and a fix to a very ailing ATU.
Rumors that the tower was taken down, etc. are just rumors." The buyer
is YAQUINA BAY COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for $37,500. they own KNPT 1310 AM,
Newport, OR KYTE 102.7 FM, Newport KBCH 1400 AM, Lincoln City KCRF 96.7
FM, Lincoln City News calls are KWDP.<<

I wonder when the station will return? Since Yaquina Bay bought them,
they are bound to stay on the air this time. KNPT is a very old coastal
station. Been on the air 50-60 years at least. Back in the 70s, when
KBCH was on 1380, the letterhead for both KNPT & KBCH was the same
except for the call letters, freq. $37.500 was quite a buy. This way
Yaquina Bay will easily cover the whole county with AM coverage. South
(Waldport), Central (Newport) and North (Lincoln City). I wonder what
the format will be? KBCH-1400 is Adult Standards & Talk, KNPT-1310 is
Talk.
Thanks Dennis.
