Hello All, The recent cliff-top DXpedition to the Oregon coast had fortunate timing, with fairly good DU propagation to test out the Ultralight + FSL antenna combination. The "Rockwork" ocean viewpoint on Highway 101 in Tillamook County (just south of the border with Clatsop County) has an awesome view, and seems to provide some equally awesome DXing gain. As usual, though, there were several UnID mysteries that made the DXing sessions more interesting. Some of these (585 and 765 kHz) were hold-overs from last year, while a new UnID DU showed up under 603-Waatea. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated!
585 kHz Classic rock station was back for another trip, this time with a session of DU English (female and male) after "A Horse With No Name." Propagation evidence indicates Australia, since it never shows up during Kiwi-slanted conditions http://www.mediafire.com/?vdytg556d027a7w 603 kHz New DU-English UnID under Radio Waatea's Polynesian choral music. Rarely shows up, except when Australian conditions are good http://www.mediafire.com/?czkz600jl8paq27 639 kHz The NZ National Radio relay station in Alexandra has been dominating this frequency throughout the summer, // 675, etc. Evidence would indicate that it's had some type of power increase (from 2 kw) http://www.mediafire.com/?py5xy79u61m20i6 Its separate identity from 639-Radio Fiji One has been confirmed by several MP3's where they both mix http://www.mediafire.com/?s5tfz6qj6cit7pc 684 kHz The puzzling absence of 648- NZ Rhema during last month's Lincoln City trip was explained by Tony Ward, who told me that the PAL showed a shift in frequency to 684 kHz as of last October. It was holding down the new frequency very well with its Christian music during this trip, with no sign of 2KP http://www.mediafire.com/?iqjb9c8ahjhekhb 765 kHz UnID music-oriented station was back, playing softer tunes this time. DU English speech in between the music may be strong enough for someone with great listening skills (or software) to decipher http://www.mediafire.com/?e8a7jvhrh3v0967 Thanks again for any assistance (or suggestions) concerning the above mysteries! 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
