The Fairmont in San Fran or the one in Berkeley? Used to live about 3 blocks from the one in Berkeley.
It's a nice city to visit but the Bay Area is very expensive, or it was in the early 1990s, and commuting was always a pain.
Never did any DXing while I was there but I'd bet places like Tilden Park would make an excellent site for it.
Finishing up a few things before the DX season here. Have fun and safe journey. Tim Hills Sioux Falls, SD On 8/20/2011 22:33, Colin Newell wrote:
Great city... and after 30 years of listening to KGO, nothing like I expected. Everything is walkable -- lots of very interesting and friendly people. This was quite the place in the 60's obviously -- and where my wife and I are staying (Fairmont...) lots of history. So. Off topic perhaps...but sending warm wishes to everyone on the list -- and looking forward to the September DX season. And of course, extra warm wishes to the boys in Victoria; Nick, Walt, Brian, Steve, Tom, et al. 73's
