The news of Stage 4 cancer is indeed sad.  Jim Steele has a fantastic website 
called "Vintage Broadcast Microphones", http://www.k-bay106.com/mics.htm, which 
shows photos of hundreds of vintage mics and provides .pdfs of manuals for many 
of them, along with other info. I've exchanged a few emails with Jim about old 
mics, and have always been enormously impressed with his knowledge and kindness.
