Todd:
Far as I know it is the same owner. They were country gospel and WEMM for a
time on 1470. They even tried flag-waving patriotism as WRWB for a time. When
they were gospel before (on 1470) they were often //WEMM FM, though only when
WEMM FM was playing music. It spends most of its time preaching.
A couple of other things to note: WVKO, 1580, Columbus, is running some kind of
talk format. I heard a clear WVKO ID today @ 1500, but even than early "The
Big Talker" was well atop the channel so I couldn't identify which talk format
WVKO is running.
WATH, 970, Athens, Ohio, has added a flea-powered FM twin at 97.1. Though it
has only 13 watts, its broadcast antenna is mounted up with the WXTQ ("Power
105") antenna which, I am told, has the fifth highest origination point in
Ohio. It gets in here as well as or better than the other flea powers in
Athens. WATH is mentioning the FM frequency in some of their programming, but
as yet I have heard no legal IDs giving its call sign.
Third, the two stations I reported not hearing on my November trip to SC, the
1500 in Gaffney and the 1530 in Spartanburg, were both on and doing fine over
New Year's weekend. However I did not (and have never while passing through
there) heard any sign of WBKW, 1070, Beckley. When we first moved here in the
mid-90s, they were a daytime regular as WCIR, mixing w/then WIBC. Today WFNI
is always alone all day here, and how does anybody manage to operate on 1070 at
night in the south given the signal WFNI puts into the Carolinas? WJLS, 560,
Beckley is also a daytime regular here. Does anybody know if WBKW is really
operating?

Hi David,
Will they be the same owners as well?
Thanks,
Todd
