An 80 meter dipole works fine on all the ham bands when fed with open wire feed-line and an appropriate tuner. On the MW bands, the two feeders can be tied together and the antenna treated like a top-loaded vertical. A good ground will help and the antenna will need to be tuned. Much has been written about MW tuners. I used a simple series tuned circuit.
