Do doubt it was Sans Souci SC. Thanks to Jim for suggesting that. I now recall hearing it numerous times this past winter and finally IDing it as them. I have been off AM since April, and this was just a random tuining of the ULR dial in the absenmce of any kind of FM DX. The past few nights show that good cx can surface at any time, even in low season. I didn't last long at it last night - lightning storm crackles were pretty intense.
