This reminds me of a couple years ago. You guys in the northwest had considerable difficulty pulling in any TPs one morning (later) in September, while I had reasonable audio from 774-JOUB with my PL-380 & Select-A-Tenna. (That was recorded right after my local 50kW on 760, which does desense +/- several channels around it when it's on full power, had powered down to 5kW for the day.)
I wonder if I might have gotten anything this morning? I didn't check, though - had been up most of the night doing other things and was tired. Not to mention the only fully-functional DSP radio I have is the PL-398mp, which is too big to be an ultralight. The PL-380's tuning knob is broken and some buttons are unresponsive, and the PL-606's display is partially broken. I do have a filter-modded SRF-M37W, but even so it won't work miracles. For example I figure that getting 594-JOAK would be tough from where this video was recorded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS1ZlpTClbA 73 & better DX tomorrow :) Stephen Airy ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, September 5, 2012 6:39 AM Subject: [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's (or lack thereof) for 9-5 Hello All, At first check it seemed that my equipment wasn't working properly, but after receiving a few paltry heterodynes from the Asiatic direction it seems like there was a major TP propagation drop off this morning. None of the weak Asiatic hets (594, 747, 1134, 1566 and 1575) came close to audio, and the "best" heterodyne was on 738 from the DU direction, which might have reached a poor audio level except for 740-KCBS splatter. There was no Longwave BC reception. It was a thoroughly miserable morning, and hopefully not an indiication of what is to come this new season. 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) 7.5" MW loopstick PL-380 + 8" MW FSL _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected] _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
