Well, to Gary it might have been back to normal this morning, but at my location, not only did the regular Asiatics return, so did some others not heard yet this season, so things got a little frantic at times. Also, more started turning up above 900kHZ Having said that, there seemed to be a lot of big carriers that didn't deliver audio. Moreover, I think that the Japanese big guns are slacking off a bit in strength, while Chinese and Koreans are ramping up. That's usually more an October phenomenon around here.
I was also doing some antenna comparisons at the same time, so time was at a premium; that, and the immenence of going off to work meant that there was probably more lurking there than what I've noted here. Didn't have time to check LWBC for example. Perhaps a few moments with the recordings this evening... pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 1566 HLAZ briefly at this level with man in JJ at 1256UT reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 594 JOAK woman in JJ at 1307UT 612 woman in DU EE at 1402UT; DU's were rare this morning 774 JOUB EE lessons 1326UT; someone else there, judging by cx, I wonder if China rather than 3LO? 828 JOBB also EE lesson 1326 //774 945 CNR1 CC talk by man //6125; out of sync maybe by a second, and I was a little confused as to who was leading whom. 972 HLCA man and woman in KK 1348UT 1323 CRI with oriental stringed mx leading up to 1300UT, but fading rapidly...so the CRI fanfare was darned near imaginary by that time. not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 657 first appearance this season for N. Korea on this channel, vigorous KK talk by man 1301UT 666 JOBK man in JJ //594 1329UT; first time this season 873 N. Korea, woman talking then choral mx //2850. First time this season. 891 JOHK man and woman in JJ //594 1349UT 954 JOKR man in JJ 1350UT, one of last ones heard after 1400. 1017 I have this noted as CC talk by woman at 1332UT. CRI is supposed to be KK at this time, so I'll check the recording. 1053 jammer at 1309 and other times 1386 unID slow instrumental mx 1337-43 slowly fading up, not //NHK2 or CNR1 Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 936 man talking slowly at 1346UT; big carrier 1008 mumbly female talk, no clue as to language; 1337UT 1116 sounded like DU EE at 1331UT, quite out of place with all the Asians if so. 1143 woman talking 1332 1287 JOHR man in JJ inflected talk 1548 male talk 1335, too splashy and weak to guess at language 1575 mumbly talk at 1302UT Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 603 855w/hum 864 918 927 1242 1278 1332 best wishes, Nick -- Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
