Hi Guys:

Well the UNID Station I logged on Oct. 5th signing off with the Mayberry RFD
Theme Song has really been bugging me!! I have listened almost every night
since at 1830 Hours EDT, to see if I could hear it again, hopefully with a
Better Signal so I could ID it!!

Well......Tonight I was able to hear the entire Sign Off with Call Letter
ID....so the mystery is solved!!

I had been hoping that it was going to be WMMI from Shepherd, Michigan...as
that would have been a New Station for the Logbook.

However, it turns out the Mystery Station is actually ............

830 WKTX Cortland, OHIO 1 KW Daytime Only
************************************************

They were heard at 1825 EDT tonight with Ethnic Programming..unsure of Language
but sounded Polish or Slavic or something similar possibly. After a Musical
Selection @ 1828 EDT they began their Signoff Announcements in ENGLISH with
Call Sign as WKTX and Location as Cortland Ohio. Instrumental Star Spangled
Banner after announcements, followed by "Mayberry RFD" Theme Song and then
Marching Band Music until an abrupt off the air @ 1831 EDT. This was EXACTLY as
I logged it on Oct 5th...except it was weaker then and I couldn't get an ID
from the announcements!!

WKTX is unfortunately a RELOG for me....but at least the mystery is
solved.......

So, if you hear Mayberry RFD during a Sign-Off on 830 Khz.....WKTX Cortland,
Ohio is likely the Suspect Station!!
