Hello All,
This morning was certainly one of the more bizarre TP-DXing sessions of the
entire season. Right up until 1435 the band had an auroral pattern here, with
738-Tahiti intermittently producing some of its best audio of the season. There
were even some weak NZ-pattern carriers on 603, 675, 684 and 1035 coming in and
out at times as the Asiatic TP's (with the exception of 1575-VOA, which seems
to survive auroras here) were close to comatose. Around 1440 conditions changed
dramatically with 738-Tahiti dropping out suddenly, and several Asiatic TP's
suddenly pounded in with vibrant signals. 747-JOIB came in with a monster
signal for about 5 minutes, then fizzled down to a weak carrier. 972-HLCA did
the same, and several other Asiatic big guns were momentarily very vibrant
during this brief time. Unfortunately the Asiatic rally didn't last, and all
the TP's fizzled out to weak carriers before the 1500 TOH. It was a very
strange session, and the only one of the entire season which ma!
naged decent audio from both 738-Tahiti and the Asiaitic TP's (usually it is
one or the other here).
