Sorry, for the OT nature (though this thing did get DX at one time). I recently rescued a Silvertone 5 band, 7 tube (AFAIK) console radio from my late mother's basement. The bad thing is, the cabinet is a total pig. The veneer is peeling, in most areas and one of the base boards fell off. I think that the leg can be reattached. It can stand upright but it's leaning. This radio would look cool but with the veneer shot, I'm not sure if it can be saved. The radio part is complete but I believe dad stopped using it because something quit on it.
See the radio at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/2110236@N20/pool/ I am out of storage space and it probably has to go. I already have two consoles that I'm looking at having restored. The only thing that I saw was a metal placard with 101555 stamped on it. There is a decal on the inside about using the push button tuning. Is this radio valuable at all? Is it rare? Does anyone feel that it's only option is junking it (like hauling it to the curb?). Thanks for any input. 73, Dave in Indy _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
