I am getting some faint music on 486 Kc at 0440z, BFO centered right on 486,
this with a NE by SW, 990' dipole into an R-390A, unintelligible voice at
0443z, for probably less than a minute and right back into orchestral, (I think
orchestral) music

Just received this from Brian...
Just to confirm, WG2XFQ has been on since 22:12z Dec 31st on 486KHz.

I plan to let it run thru for about 36 hrs. I may shut it down for a few

minutes as needed while I work on other gear in the shack. ERP is 20W.

486KHz RF on scope ground leads and such can be a pain at times.

But it would only be QRT for 2 or 3 minutes at most, if at all.

 Happy New Year!

All,

Brian, WA1ZMS, in Forest VA plans to re-run a replica of Reginald Fessenden’s
first aural transmission on New Year’s Eve; he first ran the transmission on
486 kHz this past Christmas eve under the WD2XSH/31 experimental call sign, and
I was able to hear the broadcast in Pennsylvania. Please see the forwarded
email below for the details of his New Year's Eve transmission. Brian is active
in 600 meter experimental work and collects early wireless gear. You can see
the transmitter that Brian uses at this URL:

If you do log his station, I am sure he would appreciate a report.

Please pass the word….

WG2XFQ should be QRV (on the air) by late afternoon on Dec 31st.I will let it
run through at least New Year’s Day.

 Freq 486kHz.

ERP 20W into Marconi-T at 70ft.Same audio loop as for the X-Mass event, with a
comment that this transmission is a repeat of the original X-Mass 2012
transmisssion.
