Hi Patrick, If I recall, your 1992 logging of 864 Shillong (leading to your prized QSL) was in September, correct? It was less than a month after that I had a "what else could it be?" probable logging on 864 while on a solo DXpedition to Midway Beach (just a half mile south of Grayland).
In the early 1990s I was heavily into tropical bands DXing and had become very familiar with All India Radio outlets on 60 meters. I remember that the signal I was hearing on 864, past local SR, sounded very much like Hindi or Urdu, and the music was a dead ringer for the subcontinental flutes & tabla I often heard on AIR stations on the 60 meter band. I never caught an ID, but I was encouraged by the music and language matching, and of course your catch a month earlier added fuel to the fire.
