Hello All,
It was a pretty strange TP-DXing morning here, with the band showing that it
still has some surprises for those die-hards who stick around until all the
Asian signals collapse. At 1410 the band showed promise, with decent signals
from the big guns on 594, 828, 972 and 1566, as well as some fair audio from
secondary stations on 558 (Korean), 603 (Chinese), 936 (Chinese) and 1035
(Chinese). The band seemed to slide downward around 1500, though, with only
several big guns having decent audio. During sunrise enhancement around 1530
the Chinese station on 603 (presumed Hulun Buir) rose back up with its best
audio of the new year, while practically all of the other TP's were stuck in
mediocrity. 603 finally started to dive into the noise at 1540, and it seemed
like the session would end with mediocre signals from only the big guns on 972,
1566 and 1575. Suddenly around 1550 the Korean big gun 1566-HLAZ rose up with a
monster signal that pegged the C.Crane SWP bar meter, reaching i!
ts strongest audio ever observed here in 6 years of DXing. 1575-VOA in
Thailand also received a decent boost at this time, keeping a steady signal
until the VOA English ID at 1600 UTC. Because this pedestrian DXing location of
Puyallup usually gets a very watered-down version of sunrise enhancement, the
MP3 of this 1600 VOA identification was the latest recording ever made here
during all the years of TP-DXing. Receiver was a C.Crane SWP 7.5" Slider
loopstick Ultralight and early-model 8" FSL antenna.
1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Monster signal during Chinese
Christian program at 1555, best signal ever here
