Hello All,

Richard and Nigel accurately described the general drop off in Asian signal
quality this morning, even for this west coast location. The band started off
in a fairly promising state around 1300 with good audio from both the Japanese
and Korean big guns (on 594, 693, 747, 774, 828 and 972) and several
second-tier stations (603-HLSA, 648-VOR, 738-BEL2, 1017-CRI and 1044-CRI), but
it slid downhill from there. By 1400 it was pretty clear that none of the
second-tier Asian mainland stations would match their vibrant signals of the
past three days, and a lackluster sunrise enhancement failed to give them
anything close to their recent late-session surges. Around 1435 there was poor
Chinese audio from 603-Hulun Buir, 639-CNR1 and 738-BEL2, but that was a pretty
severe drop off from their late-session levels recently. Potent audio this
morning (generally during the 1300-1330 period) was limited to the NHK big guns
on 594, 747 and 774, along with the usual Korean powerhouse 972-HLCA.!
The upper band was again fairly anemic here, with the second-tier Chinese
stations on 1377 and 1593 missing in action for over a week now. The
1053-Jammer and 1134-KBS were also seriously down in strength from their usual
levels throughout the session.

About the only interesting signal this morning was that from 648-VOR, which
seemed to go against the lackluster trend with fair "DU English" signals from
1415-1430. British-accented male and female speakers made it through the noise
on several peaks during this period, although the content of their speech
(apparent news) was far from clear. The overall propagation state this morning
was pretty lackluster in comparison to the past three days, but probably fairly
average for the entire season.
