Hello All,

It was one of the better recent mornings for Asian signals here (for December,
that is). Several high and low band TP's showed up with audio from 1430-1545,
including some that had been in hibernation for some time.

1566-HLAZ was by far the strongest of the bunch with an excellent signal around
1430, but it was followed shortly afterward by 972-HLCA (good at 1445) and
1593-CNR1 (fair at 1450). Just after 1500 both 603-HLSA and 648-VOR (Korean
program) started coming out of the noise with fair audio, and around 1515
HLSA's long-set easy listening music was joined by weak Chinese on 603,
presumably from Hulun Buir. There was even some weak Chinese on 738 kHz around
1520, sounding more like the lively BEL2 than Mainland-type programming.
639-CNR1 also came out of the noise briefly around 1530 // to a weak 1593, but
to be honest, none of these low-band TP's sounded anything like what they did
in October. The last of the TP's to make an appearance was 1575-VOA around
1535, which hung around with its Asiatic language male-female speech as the
sole survivor until around 1550. Overall it was an interesting morning, and an
unusual exception to the December Doldrums' pattern that has been prevail!
ing for most of the month.
