I'm glad to see so much feedback, pro and con regarding the new generation 
lights. Another alternative:  A German company is manufacturing something 
called the "Heatball", sold for heat, it is essentially a good old fashioned 
incandescent. their website is  heatball.de/en/verwendurg.php    (or 
verwendung.php if I read it wrong??)  'Might be worth checking into. ms
