My tentative reception last weekend of Radio Tonga broadcasting late
seems less tentative after reading this e-mail I recently received.

Thank you four query and yes Radio Tonga 1 normally closes
transmission every night.
However, on that night it was our emergency broadcasting during the
tropical cyclone Kofi
that threatened Tonga during last weekend. Such a time Radio Tonga
must remain on air
to give out the weather updates. It is the only Radio station that
reaches the entire Tonga
Group.
