Asian results here this morning were generally similar to Dennis' report, minus
the 1215-Phillipines, of course (an exotic local Spanish pest on 1210 wipes out
the frequency). It was a good morning here, with the best signal from the 10 kW
NHK1 station 531-JOQG ever received.
The session started off at 1255 with 738-BEL2 already managing fair audio in
and out (with the usual Chinese male variety show host), along with fair
Chinese from a presumed 936-Anhui. Low-band Japanese were especially vibrant
during this early period, with 594-JOAK hitting very good peaks from 1300-1330,
along with 693-JOAB. Around 1325 the Japanese trend continued with a fair
signal from 531-JOQG, the strongest level it's ever managed here (in this
location which usually favors the Asian mainland), probably related to the new
experimental FSL antenna. Other low band Asians showing up during the predawn
darkness were 603-HLSA (fair with long-set music at 1345), 648-Russia (weak
apparent Chinese at 1338) and 657-Pyongyang (fair to good with orchestral music
around 1350). The high band was also pretty vibrant prior to sunrise, with
1566-HLAZ at an excellent level around 1315, along with 1377-CNR1 (fair to good
at 1333), 1503-JOUK (fair at 1347), 1575-VOA (fair to good at 1355!
) and 1593-CNR1 (good at 1343). A fairly decent sunrise enhancement kicked in
around 1405, and brought up the signals of 603-China (dominating HLSA at a fair
level with male-female conversation around 1405) and 1575-VOA (reaching a good
level with Asiatic language speech at 1410). Overall it was an interesting
session, with propagation almost as good as that enjoyed on Monday morning.
