Hello All,
I would certainly agree with Dennis' assessment that Asian TP signals are down
in general this season in comparison to previous years, although there is still
some time for the Asians to turn things around (if we are lucky).
After yesterday's dreadful performance the big gun Koreans and Japanese
rebounded fairly well, with 972-HLCA and the 1053-Jammer reaching pretty potent
levels very late in sunrise enhancement around 1335. With the exception of a
fair signal from 1323-CRI the Chinese were still missing in action, however,
and except for that somewhat odd station the morning's results were limited to
the usual Asian big guns. At the 1230 start time the usual diehards on 594,
774, 828, 972 and 1566 were in and out with fair audio, along with 1575-VOA.
Once again prior to 1300 a fair signal was also in and out from 1323-CRI, with
male-female speech in a language which sounded more Chinese than Russian. None
of these stations sounded very energetic during the predawn darkness, and even
during a routine sunrise enhancement from 1300-1330 they had trouble
maintaining good audio for more than a minute at a time. Finally around 1335
the Korean big guns 972-HLCA and the 1053-Jammer broke through with very good
audio, which continued for about 5 minutes before propagation collapsed around
1340. Best signal of the morning was from 972-HLCA during this very late surge,
with Korean pop music and male-female speech.
972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Very good level Korean female speech late in
sunrise enhancement at 1335; best TP signal of the morning
