Hello All,
Those who were looking for better Asian signals this morning were in for a
pretty rude shock as the band delivered a "check your antenna" type of session.
The usual Japanese and Korean big guns never made it to audio level, and except
for a strange high-band kick very late in sunrise enhancement there was no
Asian audio at all.
The session started out in dreary fashion at 1235 without even a decent Asian
carrier to be found. 774-JOUB rose up in carrier strength around 1350 to
apparently manage a few weak seconds of poor audio in the Seattle splatter, but
this may have been imaginary. Nothing else happened until very late in sunrise
enhancement around 1340, when an apparent 1503-JOUB (of all stations) came up
in strength enough to manage a few weak seconds of garbled audio. This was
followed by a few seconds of ghostly audio on 1575 (apparently VOA), and the
same type of poor signal in Seattle splatter on 1593, apparently from CNR1.
This high band revival fizzled out almost as soon as it got started, with
propagation collapsing around 1345. It was altogether a miserable morning-- but
not a great surprise this new season.
73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA)
