Hello All,
Asian low-band propagation this morning wasn't nearly as potent as during
yesterday's exceptional session, but there were still some decent signals to be
found-- mostly from the Koreans. In comparison to Dennis' report this morning
the Koreans on 603, 657 and 972 seemed to do a little better here, although
his Japanese stations on 567 and 1008 never made it through the domestic
splatter.
At the session's 1230 start time it was pretty obvious that yesterday's wild
low band propagation was long gone, with the obscure Chinese stations on 594,
603, 657 and elsewhere completely silent. The Japanese big guns on 594, 693,
747, 774 and 828 were back to their usual predawn strength with good signals in
and out, but never came close to pegging the PL-380 S/N readout like they did
yesterday. 558-HLQH was just as strong around 1250 as it was yesterday, though,
equaling its best strength of the new season. At the first sign of daylight
around 1310 both 603-HLSA and 738-BEL2 came out of the noise with fair signals,
and both of them were in and out for the next 40 minutes. Around 1325 603-HLSA
went on somewhat of a romp, reaching very good signals with Korean pop music
hosted by KBS2's deep-voiced male. 657-Pyongyang also reached a very good level
around 1343 with female vocal music, playing the same ancient song twice in a
row. Finally the NHK2 big gun 693-JOAB was unusually potent with its Chinese
lessons at 1347, completely breaking free from the Vancouver splatter to manage
its best signals ever here (slightly better than yesterday's performance).
Overall the session wasn't bad, but it certainly was no repeat of yesterday.
Best signal of the morning was from 693-JOAB at 1347, with Chinese lessons at a
very good (and sustained) level.
