Hello All,
For some unknown reason this post never made it to the IRCA reflector
yesterday, so it is being re-sent this morning (now that the reflector seems to
be operating normally).

Hello All,
What started out as a miserable session in the predawn darkness was rescued
somewhat by a late sunrise enhancement boost, which brought a couple of big gun
Asians out of the noise up to a respectable level. One of them even managed to
peg the PL-380 S/N briefly, in one of the strangest comebacks in recent memory.
The band was dreary indeed during the predawn darkness from 1250-1315, with
only 738 (presumed BEL2) and 936 (presumed Anhui) flirting with audio in a
halfhearted way. Around 1320 there were weak signs of life from 594-JOAK,
603-HLSA, 747-JOIB and 972-HLCA, although none of them could sustain their poor
audio for more than a few seconds at a time. It was looking like the first day
of October might be a real clunker, when increasing sunlight around 1345
suddenly brought both 747-JOIB (with NHK2 Chinese lessons) and 972-HLCA (with a
Korean radio drama) out of the noise up to a good level. 747-JOIB stayed at
that level fighting the Portland splatter for the rest of sunrise enhancement,
but 972-HLCA just kept getting stronger, finally pegging the PL-380 S/N display
briefly around 1352. Other than these two diehards 657-Pyongyang and the
1053-Jammer also got some minor benefit from the late Korean propagation surge,
reaching fair audio in and out before t he band collapsed around 1400. Best
Asian audio of the morning (excellent) was from 972-HLCA around 1352-- which
had been comatose for 90% of the session before its late comeback. To put
things in perspective, though, only a few big gun Asians showed up with any
kind of life this morning, and nothing remotely exotic.
