Hello All,

Sorry if this is a double post-- I'm trying to shift over from AOL to Comcast
in order to clear up posting issues on the IRCA list.

Asian results here this morning were almost identical to those reported by
Dennis as the Japanese and Korean big guns were the only ones to manage vibrant
audio. What sounded like a pretty lackluster session in the predawn darkness
was rescued somewhat by a late sunrise enhancement boost around 1350, bringing
several NHK stations and 972-HLCA up to respectable levels.

In the predawn darkness prior to 1310 even the usual diehards on 594, 693, 747,
774, 828, 972, 1053 and 1566 struggled to get out of the noise, with 594-JOAK,
the 1053-Jammer and 1566-HLAZ the best of the bunch, managing only fair audio
for a few seconds at a time. Nothing much changed until around 1330, when
594-JOAK came up in strength to a good level in and out, along with 693-JOAB at
similar strength. The Japanese trend continued around 1345 with both 747-JOIB
and 774-JOUB reaching fair to good levels (in bad Portland and Seattle
splatter), along with fair signals from 1134-JOQR (in equally bad Vancouver
splatter). The Koreans had been weak underperformers all session when 972-HLCA
suddenly came up in strength after the 1400 TOH to reach a fair to good level
in Portland splatter, along with the 1053-Jammer at a good level. Like Dennis
mentioned 603-HLSA (as well as 603-China) never managed decent audio this
morning, although it came in at a poor level here around 1335 with Korean pop
music. Even 657-Pyongyang was silent for audio this morning-- maybe a blessing
in disguise? Best signals of the session were from 594-JOAK (with NHK news at
1347) and 693-JOAB (with Chinese lessons at 1353)-- both of which managed very
good strength for a brief period. The only somewhat unusual station to show up
here was 1044-CRI, which came in with apparent Japanese speech at a poor level
late in sunrise enhancement around 1355. Overall the session was pretty dreary,
unless Japanese and Korean big gun audio was the primary objective.
