Hello All,

Asian propagation was fairly lackluster this morning, with only the Japanese
big guns managing decent audio throughout the session. There was a brief S9 mix
of the 1053-Korean jammer and  a TP co-channel around 1255, however, and a fair
appearance of 738-Tahiti in the semi-auroral conditions.

Most of the interesting signals were received during the predawn darkness, with
1566-HLAZ's Japanese service having unusual good strength (very good) from my
1245 start time right up until 1330, along with the 1053-Jammer mixing it up
with an Asian co-channel (sounding very much like having the distinctively bad
North Korean programming, although the 657 // was down in the noise at the
time). If so, it would be the first appearance of the Jammer's intended target
here for several years. The Japanese big guns on 594, 693, 747 and 828 were in
and out with fair to good signals from 1245 right up until 1415, although there
was no sunrise enhancement effect to speak of. With the exception of the
apparent Korean mix on 1053 kHz around 1255 (and the overachieving 1566-HLAZ)
signals were substandard from that country, with 603-HLSA missing in action and
972-HLCA reaching only fair levels. With the exception of HLAZ the high band
sounded pretty comatose, a frequent occurrence recently. An anemic appearance
of 738-Tahiti in the KCBS splatter around 1400 rounded off the mediocre
session, with fair level French news from a female announcer just after the
TOH. Overall it was a fairly dreary morning, with the usual low-band Asians on
603, 657 and 738 staying down in the noise. Best audio of the session (very
good) was from the 1053-Jammer mix at 1255, although 1566-HLAZ had a close
level for an extended time, and 693-JOAB also came close with its NHK2 Korean
lessons around 1410.
