Hello All,

The solar-challenged band lived down to low expectations this morning,
delivering one of the worst clunker sessions in the entire season (at least in
this DU-dead zone). A few Asian big guns managed threshold audio, but the smart
DXers were the ones that stayed in bed.

At 1240 UTC the only sign of Asian life was weak heterodynes from 972-HLCA and
the 1053-Jammer, and even these diehards had trouble reaching audio. As they
were struggling at threshold levels around 1330 the NHK big guns on 594 and 693
managed their own weak carriers, but never proceeded any further. Normally on
solar-challenged days like this 738-Tahiti makes a halfhearted appearance
around 1400, but I had little interest in sticking around to hear their anemic
signal in KCBS splatter for the fourth time in a week. Congratulations to
Richard in Oklahoma for hearing somewhat of a signal on 774 from a probable 3LO
in Melbourne-- which is certainly far more exciting than anything that happened
here this morning.
