Hello All,

First of all, congratulations to Tim Tromp in Michigan for his extremely long
range reception of 612-ABC in Brisbane-- truly an outstanding new DX catch!
Like Nigel has reported Asian propagation improved somewhat this morning from
yesterday's morbid session, with several second-tier TP's managing fair audio
along with the usual vibrant big guns in the predawn darkness around 1300.
Unfortunately sunrise enhancement was pretty much a fizzler, leaving only the
Japanese and Korean big guns to finish out the disappointing session.

At my 1235 start time the Asians sounded promising, with 603-HLSA (fair),
738-BEL2 (poor to fair), 1044-CRI (fair) and 1323-CRI (fair) in and out of the
domestic splatter, along with good signals from 972-HLCA and the Japanese big
guns on 594, 693, 747, 774 and 828. Around 1315 the band seemed to settle into
a malaise, though, with the second tier Asians slowly dropping into the noise.
By the 1400 TOH 738-BEL2 was the only one of these still around at a weak
level, but 603-HLSA did revive somewhat in strength up to a fair level later
on. Sunrise enhancement around 1430 didn't really boost up anything except for
972-HLCA, which hit a very good level with Korean music around 1440. 603-HLSA
did come back up to an anemic level with pop music at 1443 but the second-tier
Asians on 738, 1044 and 1323 were long gone. The Japanese big guns didn't seem
very impressed with sunrise enhancement either, with only 594-JOAK still around
at a fair level by 1450. Nigel's report was very interesting, since he reported
good Asian reception around the same time that Asian signals were tanking out
here. It seems like Alberta's superb sunrise enhancement used up most of the
Asians' limited energy this morning.
