(6-foot-diagonal wood frame tuned loop, RTL-SDR dongle, Ham It Up upconverter)
I plan on being more organized about posting brief domestic logs here in coordination with more detailed postings and recordings at my blog, but I had to share this one. Instead of sleeping right now, I'm listening to a recording on 1290 from about 9:10-10:30pm that I made while I was doing other things, and got my first catch of a station in a town where I previously lived: 1290 KOWB, Laramie WY, weak at 10:05pm (0505UT), 1000W, call (new), 599 miles The loop was aligned SSW-NNE intentionally to try to somewhat null semi-local KCUB and point towards Laramie. Thye were going out of the TOH news into the Bill Cunningham Show and they were advertising their phone app. The signal was battling KCUB, a Mexican station that I'm sure is XEAP but haven't been able to truly confirm, and at least one other station. Anyway, I lived in Laramie for most of the 90s and have real nostalgia for the place and that time of life. Clever call letters, too. (Coincidentally, I went back to 1290 in real time little later to check KAZA per a secondary topic in the 1520 KKXA thread.)
