Yes, Seaside was "Ridgefield" as in RE8-. But for years, people in the Seaside/Gearhary area could just dial the last 4 digits, and then in the 60s, it was the last 5 digits. Now of course, it is area code, and all 7 digits as this area has several prefixes, 738 (old one), then 717, 440, etc.
