Hello All, As usual, it seems like I was on a different DXing planet than Nigel or Bruce this morning-- but at least we all agree that the high band Asians sounded pretty healthy. Here it was the low band TP's that had their best signals of the week, however, with 594-JOAK's Japanese speech and 603-HLSA's long-set music hitting good peaks during the predawn darkness. Unfortunately the increasing daylight after 1500 brought decreasing signals from the Asians, with most of them bailing early. At my 1430 start time it certainly seemed like one of the best days of the new year, with 594, 603, 774 and 1566 all hitting good peaks in and out. Propagation was so favorable that it appeared that Nigel's every-other-day-good theory would be proven inaccurate, even as far away as Alberta. 594-JOAK and 603-HLSA hit their peak strength on the low band just prior to 1500 (both good) while 657-Pyongyang and 738 (presumed BEL2) were also managing rare winter time audio. There was also good signal variety on the high band with 1503-JOUK, 1566-HLAZ, 1575-VOA and 1593-CNR1 all rising above the domestic splatter with fair to good peaks from 1430-1500. Unfortunately a sunrise enhancement boost was nowhere to be found, though, and both the low and high band Asians started to bail by 1510. Best signals of the session (good) were in the hours of darkness from 1566-HLAZ at 1430, and 603-HLSA just before 1500. It would have been a great session if the band had delivered any kind of sunrise boost, but overall it was still nothing to complain about for the middle of winter. 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Female Japanese speech at a fair to good level around 1458 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/12q64xk3w9dka45/594-JOAK-1458z021415CCSW.MP3 603 HLSA Namyang, S.
