Yes, Mark, there is no conceivable reason for a powerful eastern China station 
to start broadcasting on 1566 kHz unless it has negative intentions toward the 
250 kW Christian broadcaster, HLAZ. The frequency is certainly far from open. 
1566-HLAZ has two Christian programs beamed to China in Mandarin each evening 
(during our morning DX period here on the west coast), and at very powerful 
strength. They must be causing some consternation in Beijing, which attempts to 
suppress any religious activity which it cannot control.

This is oddly reminiscent of the Radio Farda UAE versus Iran mash-up on 1575 
which is sometimes a DX feature on the East Coast. 

Or, for that matter, the 
nightly Radio Marti versus Rebelde Cuba shoot-out on 1180 that usually leaves 
hapless WHAM spinning in the dust here on the Cape.
