It really was a blowout Neil...I had been doing antenna experiments
and set up a Flag (FLG100), a corner fed loop of the same size as
Chuck was using at Rockworks (also FLG100), a 550' BOG, a pair of
phased ALA100's and a 160' DKaz with FLG100. Also an AMRAD active
whip, and probably the kitchen sink in there somewhere. The Flag
and DKaz had remotely adjustable Vactrol terminations, and all except
the 252 degree corner fed loop were aligned to 270 degrees.
And the winnah for DU delivery was the Dkaz ....
congratulations. The FLG100 gave it enough oomph on the low end of
the band, and it nulled domestics (and the increasingly ghastly
Grayland low band noise) the best.
Definitely a keeper, that antenna. The phased ALA100 array that had
done so well last October was underpowered when faced with all the
underpowered DUs, even when I enlarged the loops, and I'm still not sure why.
best wishes,
Nick

a New Zealand opening...where does one start? Rhema ID on 801,
Bruce got a Coast ID on 1359, Star on 981, while TAB Trackside has
had a wonderfully IDable loop of music to put the horses to
bed....just heard it on 1224, 1 kw, and I suspect, many others to
come, the logbook has 954, 1206 and 828 already. 828 actually
started things by powering in at 1040UT, and it's been a bit of a
wild ride since then. The recordings should be interesting, think
I may have had Sport on 1350, but if so, it's slightly delayed from
1503, more study is needed, hi.
