As Nick and Gary pointed out today's lack of excitement was the result of a sunrise crap shoot with no shots fired.
Started with promise at 1314 UTC with 529 SQM at good levels from Alaska It quickly degenerated into an all top tier Japanese sideshow with the usual suspects... 1315 - 594 khz - Japan YL / OM back and forth in JJ 1318 - 774 khz - Japan - YL in more English sounding than usual 1319 - 828 khz - Japan - OM in JJ 1328 - 1566 khz - Korea at good levels at times with pipe organ music 1330 - 891 khz - EE talk with lively music over top of 890 1336 - 675 khz - Assume New Zealand with Kiwi style cadence of EE 1343 - 612 khz - Assume 4QR with EE Sports talk Hints of audio and occasional appearances of clear audio on 567 (JJ), 585, 756, 972, 1053, 1116... Good carriers and undelivered promises of audio, 531, 558, 621, 747, 792, 855, etc , 1575 A pot of Ethiopian coffee brewed at 1400 UTC made up for the embarrassing debacle that was this mornings session. 1st day using a VACTROL on the N/NW Flag from schematics provided by Mark Connelly in Maine and strict supervision from Nick Hall - Patch and mich encouragement from Walter Salmaniw. I plan on making plenty of VACTROL sets for Flag antennas if anyone is interested in one. It allows for the remote control of the termination on the flag using an opt-isolator.
