Looking at the relocated-to-Andover WMVX engineering report Figure 1, it
appears that I am just east (= inside) of the 0.5 mV/m line where it crosses
the mid-Cape (bisecting Sandy Neck). So that puts me around 0.6 mV/m give or
take a bit.
This shows an approximate 20 dB loss in comparison to the present signal of
5.96 mV/m (the average of v-soft.com values of 4.39 (zip 02664), 7.56 (zip
02675), and 5.94 (zip 02660) - each of those post offices is about 2.5 miles /
4 km away, one SSW, one WNW, one E). Radio-Locator map for present (Beverly)
WMVX ( http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/patg?id=WMVX-AM&s=C&h=D ) shows the
mid-Cape well inside the "local" 2.5 mV/m (red) contour so approximately 6 mV/m
does sound about right for what 1570 is delivering here during the day.
Signal loss out around P-Town with the relocation would be somewhat less.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out. The Perseus SDR receiver I
use has very accurate dBm-at-50-ohm-input measurement capability. I have
stored spectrum captures (allowing complete AM band playback, 1 GB file size =
approx. 2 min.) done during midday conditions to evaluate antennas being
tested. Besides the 1570 change measured versus the pre-move signal (when
using the same antenna), the differences versus other stations similar in
frequency, bearing, and distance would give a good metric. For instance, if
WMEX 1510 is 18-20 dB weaker than Beverly WMVX here (pretty close to the right
number), I would expect that Andover WMVX would come in here pretty much at the
same level as WMEX rather than 'blastingly' louder as at present.
I would suspect that the post-move night WMVX signal will be buried by the
metro-Montreal station over 95% of the time.
