It was an excellent morning for Japanese signals, with an all-new TP catch on
the stand-alone 3" FSL Tecsun PL-380 model-- 1134-JOQR. Once again the low band
was distinctly favored over the high band during sunrise enhancement, although
1377-CNR1 managed a rare signal late in the session around 1350.

My session started off at 1305 with the usual NHK and Korean big guns on 594,
747, 972 and 1566 sounding vibrant, with good peaks in and out. At 1414 there
was a brief peak in 594-JOAK's police report ("keisatsu") with Japanese female
speech that turned out to be the strongest signal of the entire session (very
good). 693 and 774 joined the other NHK big guns with good signals in and out
by the first sign of daylight at 1330, and a long-term target on this model,
1134-JOQR, started having some audio peaks above the Vancouver splatter. The
Tokyo commercial station played hide-and-seek for a while until it went on a
fairly potent run at 1347, peaking with clearly identifiable Japanese speech on
the hot-rodded portable. About the same time 603-HLSA came out of the noise
with Korean music at a fair level, followed at 1352 by an apparent 738-BEL2
with poor level Chinese peaks in the San Francisco splatter (but too weak for
definite identification). Besides these the 1053-Jammer hung around t a fair
level for most of the session, and there was a bizarre run by 1377-CNR1 around
1350 which might have been possible to record except for heavy Everett
splatter. Overall the session was another total blast, with 1134-JOQR becoming
the 15th TP station received on the "Science Fiction PL-380" handheld model
during the past couple of months.
