I've been to quite a few of the LA area AM sites. At some point 1500 was on 
Verdugo Peak above Glendale. The ground conductivity was dreadful. Some of the 
towers were still there in 2006 and 2008.  

The only rooftop towers I know were in that area in 1962 are the two KRKD 
towers in downtown Los Angeles. They're still there. I don't think they could 
be seen from Burbank but I could be mistaken. Maybe our resident historian in 
Rochester knows. I'll ask Jim Hilliker. He knows a lot about LA radio history.
