An interesting point, Nick. I've never noticed any advantage to SW propagation being near the water, as opposed to MW. I wonder where the cut off is? 1.8 MHz, 2 or 3 MHz? I wonder whether there is any research in this area. We're well aware of some really good papers regarding salt water MW enhancement in the past.
