These logs are excerpts from my daily all-band reports, mainly SWBC, also
VHF/UHF, sometimes utility, ham, which may be found in several archives without
much delay, such as
http://www.hard-core-dx.com/index.php?topic=Hauser
And compiled weekly along with extensive news from many other individuals and
publications in DX LISTENING DIGEST:

All my MW DX reports starting August 2011 are archived in this forum with open
access:

[over 184,000 views as of Dec 15, 2016]
All times and dates strictly UT. Rx: mostly DX-398 with internal antenna only
or PL-880; NRD-545 with ALA-330S inside E-W or inside randomwire N-S; Nissan
stock caradio as specified; ICR-75 E-W longwire
** KOREA SOUTH [and non]. 1566, Dec 19 at 1339, carrier looping NW on the
DX-398 with internal antenna only, and at last I can pull some audio: talk,
maybe Korean? and piano music. Could also get the carrier at 1343 but no audio
on the R-75 with E-W longwire. At 1345 weaker, no audio audible. It`s FEBC,
HLAZ from Jeju (Cheju) Island, 250 kW. WRTH 2016 shows 1345 is the time it
transitions from Japanese to Chinese, no doubt also antenna change correlating
with signal drop here, altho it`s already just after sunrise. Aoki also shows
those times but no azimuth info. A few minutes earlier, I had sought TP
carriers on lowband, 774 etc., but none audible. Then checked NK MW/low SW
frequencies and found 2850 to be S7 at 1347, 3250 also audible, but nothing
unusual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1857, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KOREA SOUTH. 1566 kHz, Dec 20 at 1339 I`m chasing again FEBC, HLAZ Jeju
Island, and there it is looping NW, 1342 music, and I am listening with offset
BFO for a carrier break, which happens for a few seconds at 1344:34 as the beam
is being changed from Japan to China. Distance from the 250 kW station is 10995
km or 6832 statute miles (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1857, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** COSTA RICA. 2859.82, Dec 9 at 0019, JBA carrier. Suspected to be R.
San Carlos, 2 x 1430v, as tipped by Tim Tromp in MI the night before:
``For those interested in DXing medium wave harmonics, we have one
right now on 2859.8 kHz: Spanish language with a *very* tentative ID
caught at 2300 UT TOH that sounded like "Radio San Carlos" (Costa
Rica), which would be 1430 x 2. Fair and steady carrier but weak
modulation that seems to come and go. Still there at 0017. A quick
search of Glenn Hauser posts reveals Radio San Carlos has been
reported on 2859.8 in past years. 73, (Tim Tromp, West Michigan,
Perseus + D-KAZ aimed due South, Dec 7-8, IRCA via DXLD)``
I had several logs of it in 2009-2010y but not since! At that time it was
signing off circa 0200. I scan the 2 MHz band almost every night for harmonix,
but none heard in a long time now. Where has this been, and why is it back now?
WRTH 2016 shows 3 kW on 1430 from Ciudad Quesada, TIRVDC, at 11-03 UT.
2859.82, Dec 10 at 0128, no signal from presumed R. San Carlos second
harmonic like last night.
2859.82, Dec 11 at 0132, nothing detectable from R. San Carlos. OK, enough
non-logs. I will keep checking and certainly report if a carrier reshow here.
Has Tim Tromp or anyone else heard it again since his original tentative log
Dec 7 at 2300, and mine Dec 9 at 0019? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1856,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** COSTA RICA. Re Harmonic alert: Radio San Carlos (Tent) 1430 x 2 --- Just an
update on this one, I'm noting a weak carrier on 2859.8 right now at 2253 UT
12/14/2016. Threshold audio at best on peaks, presumed to be from the same
station. Best on my South D-KAZ. 73, (Tim Tromp, West Michigan, dxldyg via DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
2859.82, Dec 16 at 0016, JBA music, tentative R. San Carlos, 2 x 1430v. It`s
less than the noise level of S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search Dec 20, UT:
1098-west at 1336, presumed V7AB Marshall Islands; only other is 1566, see
KOREA SOUTH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search December 22, UT:
666-NW at 1333. Altho it loops appropriately for Japan or China, also seems a
bit unstable, so may be a birdie. No others in complete bandscan, not even
1566, except:
1098-W at 1336, surely the usual V7AB Marshall Islands, probably a bihour after
programming ceased, carrier staying on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
