What bubbles beneath the surface here is the evolution of electronic communication. First it was the lists, providing more instant sharing of DX. Then there was text messaging, and more recently Facebook, Twitter and several logging websites.
With all of these communications are shorter, and less detailed either by platform or by necessity of trying to report live in real time while DX'ing. I still struggle with that during my occasional live DX sessions - I don't seem to be able to do one without shortchanging the other. Many were predicting that e-lists would end up killing DX bulletins, but so far they haven't. But if we want to see DX in the bulletins, we may have to adapt to make it work. For me, I don't DX enough lately to have much to report on MW/LW. It's really obvious that you hear Asians after a geomagnetic upset before more northerly DXers do, though Dennis Vroom also does well in that respect. As far as Brandon's possible harvesting of the list, maybe we all could make a point of providing more detail for special catches that we'd like to have remembered.....TA's heard in the west, TP's in the east, 2kw New Zealanders etc., as Brandon won't always know what what is a special reception at particular site. If we highlight it and detail it (after all, don't we want to brag?), then he can ignore it. (cc'ing to him might be very helpful also). That way, there's a difference between propagation reports, and DX reports. (DXpedition reports are another thing....is Phil still harvesting those?) best wishes, Nick At 07:38 20-09-17, [email protected] wrote: >Hi Brandon, > ><<< I'm happy to continue with the email list.
