Things were popping this AM - and are still popping. It is 1550 UTC and Korea is still audible on 972 Khz -
Although the band was not overwhelming with signal strength, there were lots of 2nd tier stations popping up - often with good signals - I do not do SDR recordings - but I imagine there were be a lot of playback later if I did. When I first checked at 1350, lower to mid-band was well lit up with carriers on most channels and audio on half of them -- most stunning of which was 972 Khz Korea which was almost equalling domestic 970 in strength. A quick look at my "post shower" notes (It is a work day after all) from 1445 revealed audio popping up on 567, 594, 603, 612, 702, 747, 774, 801, 855, 864, 891, 909, 918, 954 and so on - all the way up to around 1323 Khz lots and lots going on -- just not much time for live DXing. 1098 Khz was honking at 1450 UTC with open carrier and Japanese underneath. Now 1555 and some remote receivers are still reporting 747, 774, 828, 936, 972, etc with potential audio. Not a bad morning - quite normal for this time of the year during a "good" season... and this was NOT a good season. Now that it is November, things will start to cool off - in more ways than one!
